Remodeling Industry Celebrates National Home Remodeling Month
May is National Home Remodeling Month, and there’s a lot going on around the remodeling industry worthy of celebration. After some rough months in early 2020, remodeling activity began to normalize later in the year and is now booming heading into summer 2021.
“The remodeling market took a hit last year at the start of the pandemic, but it’s completely turned around now,” said Steve Cunningham, the Remodelers chair for the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). “Remodelers are now facing intense backlog on projects due to supply chain delays, continued labor shortages, and an abundance of project leads.”
This flurry of remodeling activity is not expected to die down soon, as market experts expect home improvement spending will continue to rise through the rest of the year. Riding this momentum, the NAHB is using this year’s National Home Remodeling Month to promote the services of professional remodelers and to offer resources to pro remodelers themselves.
As part of National Home Remodeling Month, the NAHB is sharing a National Home Remodeling Month Toolkit that provides helpful resources to homeowners and remodeling professionals. It contains consumer information on design trends and a guide to hiring a remodeler, along with tools and tips for pro remodelers looking to grow their businesses.
The NAHB will also be hosting “Shop Talks” every Thursday in May for remodelers to gather and discuss trending industry topics. Here are the “Shop Talk” topics and the dates:
- Remodeling Sales Techniques to Drive Performance, May 6;
- Finding Your Customer in a Changed Market, May 13;
- New Technology Brings Changes to Home Improvements, May 20;
- Emerging Remodeling Project and Product Trends for 2021, May 27.
Each “Shop Talk” session is free and scheduled for 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. EST. No RSVP required.
